Black Friday in Spain 2026: dates, deals and your rights
Black Friday 2026 falls on 27 November. How to spot a fake discount, and your rights on returns and guarantees in Spain.
Black Friday has become one of the busiest shopping days of the year in Spain. Shops on the Costa del Sol and big online retailers start their offers earlier every year, and some run them for a whole week or more. This guide covers the 2026 dates, how to spot a real deal, and the consumer rights you have in Spain whether you buy online or in a shop.
Black Friday and Cyber Monday 2026 dates
Black Friday always falls on the day after the American Thanksgiving, which is the fourth Thursday of November. In 2026 that gives these dates:
- Black Friday: Friday 27 November 2026
- Cyber Monday: Monday 30 November 2026, mostly online offers
- Black week: many Spanish shops stretch the offers over the whole week, and some start in mid-November. Each shop decides its own dates.
Black Friday is not a public holiday, so normal opening hours apply. Larger shopping centres often open longer on the Friday and weekend, but check with the centre itself. If you plan to buy Christmas presents in the same go, our guide to Christmas gift ideas from Spanish shops has ideas and tells you when presents are given in Spain.
The price reference rule: how to spot a fake discount
Spain has a clear rule on discounts. Under article 20 of the Ley de Ordenación del Comercio Minorista (the retail trade law), when a shop announces a price reduction, the “before” price it shows must be the lowest price the product has had in the 30 days before the discount. A shop cannot raise the price in early November and then “cut” it back for Black Friday.
The Spanish Ministry of Consumer Affairs has fined online retailers for false Black Friday discounts, and says it keeps monitoring prices during sales periods. As a shopper you can protect yourself:
- Check the price now: note or screenshot the price of the things you want a few weeks before Black Friday.
- Look for both prices: a reduced item should show the previous price next to the new one.
- Compare shops: the same TV, phone or appliance is often sold by several Spanish retailers.
- Include all costs: delivery, installation and removal of your old appliance can change which offer is cheapest.
Buying online: your 14-day right of withdrawal
When you buy online, by phone or by catalogue from a business in Spain or the EU, you have a right of withdrawal (derecho de desistimiento). In short:
- 14 calendar days: you can cancel without giving a reason, counted from the day you receive the goods.
- Refund: the seller must refund you within 14 calendar days of being told you are withdrawing. It can wait until it gets the goods back or you show proof that you sent them.
- Return costs: you normally pay the direct cost of sending the item back, unless the seller has agreed to pay it.
- If the seller did not inform you: if you were not told about your right of withdrawal, the period is extended by up to 12 months.
There are exceptions. The right does not apply to personalised or made-to-order products, perishable goods, sealed hygiene products or software that you have unsealed, and some services booked for a specific date, such as concert tickets or car hire.
Black Friday is a good time to buy electronics and appliances. If you shop online, Spanish retailers such as Electropolis (ad) sell TVs, laptops and household appliances. For a home office, see our guide to buying a laptop and home office equipment in Spain.
Buying in a shop: returns are not automatic
Many newcomers are surprised that the 14-day rule does not cover purchases made in a physical shop. According to the Spanish consumer organisation OCU, shops are not obliged to accept a return unless the product is faulty. Many shops do offer returns or exchanges, but that is their own policy, and they set the conditions.
- Ask about the return policy before you pay, especially for sale items.
- The refund may come as a voucher or store credit rather than money back.
- Keep your receipt (ticket) and any packaging until you are sure you will keep the item.
The 3-year legal guarantee still applies
Discounted products have the same legal guarantee as full-price ones. Since 1 January 2022, the minimum legal guarantee for new goods bought from a business in Spain is three years from delivery. The main points:
- New goods: three years. If a fault appears in the first two years, it is presumed to have existed at delivery, so you do not have to prove it.
- Second-hand goods from a business: the guarantee can be shorter by agreement, but never less than one year.
- Digital content and services: two years.
- Your options: first repair or replacement. If a repair fails, you can ask for a price reduction or end the contract and get your money back.
The guarantee is the seller’s responsibility, not only the manufacturer’s. Shoes and clothes are covered too. Fashion sites such as Spartoo (ad) usually run their own Black Friday offers, and the same withdrawal and guarantee rules apply.
Safe shopping tips and how to complain
- Pay by card, not bank transfer: Spain’s European Consumer Centre advises paying online by credit card and avoiding bank transfers to unknown sellers.
- Check who the seller is: a real shop shows its company name, tax number and address. On marketplaces, check whether you are buying from the platform or a third-party seller.
- Watch for fake shops: very low prices, new websites and pressure to pay quickly are warning signs.
- Keep the paperwork: order confirmations, emails and receipts.
- Complain in writing: first to the shop. In Andalusia every business must have official complaint forms (hojas de quejas y reclamaciones). Consumo Responde, the Junta de Andalucía’s consumer service, can help if the problem is not solved.
A big purchase only saves you money if it fits your budget. Our guide to the cost of living in Spain can help you plan.
FAQ: Black Friday in Spain

Black Friday is on Friday 27 November 2026 and Cyber Monday is on Monday 30 November 2026. Many shops run offers for the whole week or longer.
Can I return something I bought on Black Friday in a shop?
Only if the shop offers returns or the product is faulty. The 14-day right of withdrawal applies to online and other distance purchases, not to purchases made in person.
